Critically wounded soldier in Afghanistan to return home for fundraiswer

On April 24, 2012, SSG Christopher R Walker was injured in an IED attack causing loss of three limbs his arms and one leg as well as an arm injury. I am the family spokesperson and reaching out to CNN to see if you all are interested in providing coverage for a big fundraiswer we have scheduled along with Rolling Thunder bike club on Saturday JUne 16, 2012. Chris himself has made significant progress at Walter Reed in Bethesda and is going to come and be the grand marshal of the bike ride riding along in a van with other familyu members. At this time, Chris is adapting to the loss of his limbs and has already been fitted for his prostheses. There has already been a lot of local media coverage but this is the opportunity to show the nation what our soldiers are enduring over there in afghanistan and the injuries they are sustaining. I can provide additional pictures to u if interested in running a story or covering the event. The bike ride will be held at English Park iN Altavista VA and the bike ride will conside of at last esstimate about 300 motorcylcle riders along with cars driving in the ride to raise money to help Chris on this long journey. It is best estimate that he will remain at Walter Reed for two years and our small community has reached out but we would like to get the word out nationally about his story. His spirits are excelletn and he has told his commanding oficer that when he rehabs, he wants to continue working. He does not want to get out of the Army. what better hero can you find than this. I was up there several weeks with the family, serving as their spokesperson with local media and reqeusts for interviees and information about our local soldier who was injured so critically and I can truly say if you have never been to one of these military hospitals, yuou see a bunch of injured warriors who are not moping around, they are smiling and are a big family. We have a facebook page set up for him called StaffSgtChritopherWalkerpage where people can leave him a message and we are updating that daily with infomatoin. We would apprecaite your consideration of covering this big event coming up next weekend. We will have local media covering the event. We have a Congressman coming and of course the guest of honor will be the injured soldier himself along with his daughter. We would love to have all the coverage we can get to help this soldier with his needs as he goes through this long tedious process of recovery. I am going to upload a couple pictures and would appreciate your coverage. Thank you very kindly. My contact information is included. Thank you.
    Greetings media personnel

My name is Kim Taylor and I am the spokesperson for SSG Christopher Walker, an EOD specialist who was crticially wounded in an IED attack in Afghanistan on April 24, 2012. Chris is making tremendous progress and has lost both arms and a leg and he is so positive and working so hard in rehab. This coming up weekend, June 16, 2012, in our hometown, where he grew up, Altavista, VA, Chris is going to be returning home via private flight (that a facebook page follower offered) to attend the bike ride. This is a fundraiswer we set up to help him with his expenses and his family as well as his family vehicles are not in good enough shape to get back and forth to Bethesda where he is a patient at Walter Reed National Military Hospital.

The fundraiswer will take place at English Park in Altavista, with registration beginning at 9 am and the first bikes/cars being sent out right after Congressman Hurt makes his remarks. Congressman Hurt is our local Congressman and he is going to give some brief remarks. The grand marshal to the bike ride being sponsored by rolling thunder and hosted by POW/MIA WVMC riders is made up on entirely veterans and we are anticipating at least 300 motorcycles alone. That is not even counting the cars that are going to be riding. The ride will take place from Altavista, VA to a place called Copper Top restaurant in Buchanan VA with proceeds going to support the family as they care for Chris and for Chris needs. All of his belongings are packed up in his unit in Hawiaa where he was deployed out of and also in Afghanistan so we hae been having to go out and get him clothes.

I wanted to reach out to the media to offer you all an opportunity to cover this event. I know Channel 7 and Channel 13 have already indicated they are planning to cover and we want to extend an invitation to all of you to attend. Since the injured warrior himself will be attending it will be a great time to get a one on one interview with him before he returns back to Walter Reid for continued therapy. Chris lost most of both arms and he lost a leg and also has eye damage but his spirit is strong and positive.

I can providce you with you pictures and evidence and letters from the military that verifies waht I am doing and also a letter from his POA who has asked me to serve as spokesperson with dealing with the media.

We would sincerely apprecaite your coverage of this event. It is going to be a biiiiiiiiiiiiigggg event for our little town of Altavista with all proceeds going to Chris Walker himself.

If you would like to check us out on facebook go to StaffSgtChristopherWalkerpage and search and it should take you to the page.

If you are interested, please contacxt me at 434 319 1877, my name is Kim Taylor and I am the spokesperson. I can provide you with all kinds of pictures and I will attach one to this page just so you know I am sincere and we would love for you all to cover this event. We will hae a congressman there and also we will have the guest of honor our wounded warrior who is flying down to attend. It is going to be remarkable and in my opinion a major news story.

I am attaching a picture of Chris himself and if you would like to cover the story, please let me know and I will do all i can to set aside time for you to interview Chris if you owuld like to do so. We do not get to hear much from our injured warriors but Chris is wanting to tell his story.

    Thank you so much.
