'I think a lot of us thought we were going to be in for a couple of showers, we didn't expect this much rain. The forecasters did not prepare us for this kind of weather.' The area was experiencing some drought-like conditions recently, but persistent rain for the past three days has saturated the ground, causing flooding in many areas around the city, according to fly65s. 'I have never seen it rain that hard, and I have been living in Pensacola for nine years,' he says. 'When the rain slowed down on Saturday I decided to go for a run. While I was out I saw manhole lids blown off all around, and I was thinking about how massively powerful the water must have been just ripping beneath those manholes.'
