Teachers and Students Not Standing Up During the Pledge of Allegiance

Hello my name is Byron Thomas and America the school systems have a lot of things that need to be changed, that could better our school systems. I graduated from North Augusta High School in 2011, so I’m just a year removed from the school system. Please respect my opinion, because I’m not attack no one, it’s just my opinion. Bring prayer back to the schools. When God left the school system, what walked in? Increase in school bullying, increase in teen suicide, and more school shootings. Is a teacher praying for our safety, really going to kill us? It’s so easy for a student or someone to bring a weapon into the school system and kill or hurt people. Which one would America want in a classroom, a gun or God? God’s the only one protecting us away from home, because a police officer can’t fully protect a school with 1700 students. Also on a side note, we do have brave teachers who will pray for our safety in the classroom, because a lot of students don’t mind it or will not snitch on a teacher for praying for us. Second, it’s a shame that teachers and students are not standing up to the Pledge of Allegiance. This is so disrespectful toward the soldiers and people who have died, fought, and paved the way for our good future. Teachers are supposed to be the leaders in the classrooms, and if they are not at least standing up for the pledge, what example is that for us students? Teachers should be proud of teaching in America, and so they should rub that proud off on us. It’s all about respect and not standing up for the Pledge of Allegiance, is very very VERY disrespectful. Last, the American history books need to be re-written, because we are getting spoon feed on what to believe. It’s a shame that in our OWN American history, we are one sided on issues. It’s like the North and South are still separated. For example, the Civil War. All the history books have the south 100% fought for slavery and the north 100% fought to end slavery. How are we allowed to form an educated opinion, if we are not given more details about both sides? It should anger some blacks, Indians, and Hispanics, because we fought for the south too. People don’t want to put that in the history books that some blacks willingly fought for the south (but everyone wants to say they were brain washed or Uncle Toms, so disrespectful). Also, they don’t want to put that the Confederate General Robert E. Lee let his slaves go before the Civil War, compared to his Union counterpart General Grant whose wife still owned slaves. It makes a lot of southerns mad, because the south is blamed for everything bad in this country and it makes the north seem like a heaven on earth. It’s time to put both sides of the story in the books, so we are allowed to form a more educated opinion. If our school system doesn’t improve, there goes our American future and dream. Also on a side note, teachers deserve a pay rise. They are the ones who teach the future presidents of America, soldiers, lawyers, doctors, etc. Hopefully some good changes are made in the school system that will better our country. Kill People with Kindness and May God Bless America
