Ukrainian animal rights activists protest during EURO 2012

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Cierpinski says Ukraine has a huge problem with stray dogs, and the country does not offer animal shelters for them. Ukrainian animal rights activists protesting in this iReport report that more than 250,000 stray dogs have been killed by the government. Many of the people demonstrating for animal rights and awareness in Ukraine were between the ages of 20 to 30, according to Cierpinski. 'In Ukraine, hundreds of thousands stray dogs just walk on streets. It is still unpopular to adopt such an animal. It is more prestigious to buy it. There is also serious problem with lack of responsibility of owners of animals as well. Pets are not sterilized and that is why their quantity was so huge,' Cierpinski says.
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer
