    Catagory 2 Cyclone Winds Lash Western Australia

     

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     DavidFullard says the storm occurred June 10, and 'it was impossible to stand still in the wind. It was almost the strongest ive ever felt. The power went off for two days and the internet was also down.'

    Photos of the destruction caused by a weather front with catagory 2 cyclonic winds of 135km/hr, in Rockingham, Western Australia.

     

    Power has only just gone back on after over 30 hours of constant power blackout across the Perth metropolitain area.

     

    Boats have broke their moorings and washed ashore in the wind. Powerlines are down all over, traffic lights are all off in Rockingham, Many roads are blocked by trees or power lines. power is slowly being restored to the 170,000 homes that have lost power.

     

    Shops have had to sell meats and seafood at 25% the price to get rid of it before it goes off due to the lack of power to fridges.

     

    The internet also went down making it impossible to send video and pictures to news networks.

     

    Another storm of equivilant winds is expected tonight.
