    30 lbs down already this year


    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     mysqlscott says his New Years resolution in 2012 was to run 500 miles because he was tired of not being physically fit and gaining weight along his midsection. He started using RunKeeper, a fitness application that tracks its user's running progress. 'I am the type who craves detailed feedback and data to measure progress and stay motivated, and RunKeeper gives me all the details I could ever want to track my goals and progress,' he says. With an office job and three kids he says it is easy to get tired and lose track of time, but with RunKeeper he makes exercise a part of his lifestyle. 'Before getting fit I was always tired, ate too much junk food and was really falling into a bad lifestyle routine and generally grumpy and unhappy. I now work hard to keep active, am excited about my weekly running miles, weight loss, energy and health eating,' he says.

    I had a simple new years goal to run 500 miles in 2012. I track every mile in RunKeeper on my iPhone and challenge myself to reach my weekly miles goals. After a few months I upped my goal to 1000 miles and am so far on target about 1/2 way through the year. While it wasn't part of my resolution I have enjoyed loosing 30 lbs, Thanks RunKeeper!
