    Economy: Are you better off?

    More from JannetWalsh

Better off than four years ago? No.

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     JannetWalsh, a frequent video commenter on CNN iReport from Murdock, Minnesota, shares her story as part of iReport's election project. She documents her perspective on the current state of the economy and the ways in which she's coping with unemployment. "The economy is in trouble. We should not be looking to the government or the local state to help, but look at ourselves for the solution to the problem." She says the current economy lacks small businesses, entrepreneurs and innovative thinkers, adding that people must embrace the notion of assuming multiple jobs. "The idea of having more than one source of income if you are laid off, which is very likely in our economy, is needed. The protean career, the idea of being able to change the way you earn a living, looking to the future and having more than one revenue stream of income is not only a good idea, but necessary for survival." JannetWalsh was featured in a CNN story; read it here.
