    Light…from within!

Bekaakafra – north Lebanon. Candles lit by visitors of the church of Saint Charbel. They represent wishes made by some and redemption asked by others. In addition, many consider them to be symbols of the light from within. However, almost all don’t know that lighting candles as part of a religious act is a replacement of the sacrifice offered to gods as it used to be practiced by past civilizations around the world thousands of years ago. Photo taken on June 9, 2012.
