Prominent journalists arrested for protesting in Moscow.

Prominent journalist from the radio station Echo Moskvy are arrested in front of the Investigation Committee after barely unfolding their posters. They were protesting death threats received by Sergey Sokolov, the chief editor of Novaya Gazeta, from the head of the Investigation Committee Alexander Bastrykin. Sokolov has left Russia because of taking the threats seriously. Anna Politkovskaya, who was gunned down in Moscow a few years ago, was his colleague. At the moment well known journalists Vladimir Varfolomeev, Natella Boltyanskaya, Olga Bychkova, Alina Grebneva and Alexander Podrabinek are being taken to the police Station Basmannoye. It remains to be seen, if the new draconian law about meetings and gatherings would be applied to them.
