    Apocalyptic-like Hail Storm in Texas

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     hnhjones, a former contestant on 'America's Next Top Model,' told me, 'Today my grandmother and I were leaving the grocery store and I made the comment of how odd the weather had been. As we were driving home, heavy rain began to fall hard all around us. Luckily we made it into the garage before the large rocks of ice came. At first, the marble sized hail fell sporadically then grew in speed. I ran out to my car covering what I could before the hail began to fall harder. After a couple of minutes, we started to hear alarming thuds like the sound of bowling balls falling on the roof. This is when I grabbed my camera and pointed it out the window to see massive chunks of ice bombarding our backyard.'

For the past two days, Dallas has experienced overcast weather with little threat of actual rain. Today my grandmother and I were leaving the grocery store and I made the comment of how odd the weather had been. This is when I grabbed my camera and pointed it out the window to see massive chunks of ice bombarding our backyard. The thick pieces toppled from the roof, making large splashes in our pool. Neither my grandmother or myself have ever witnessed such a hail storm. My cousin, on his way to the house, was caught in his car for the worst part of the storm. Once it began to lighten up he ran to us for shelter.

The hail storm lasted about thirty minutes before subsiding. Once again the sun was out and beginning to set as we counted over twenty dents on the hood of my cousin's car. Unfortunately the windshield on my car was shattered with the top of the car dented as well.
