Angry protesters tear down Shafik billboard
- Jareen, CNN iReport producer
A group of angry protesters tore down Ahmed Shafik billboard. Ahmed Shafik was the last prime minister appointed by Mubarak and is the current presidential candidate. Shafik's billboards and posters were torn down through the previous weeks in different parts of Egypt as young revolutionary youth express their anger and dissatisfaction with his running for president. Ahmed Shafik is considered one of the active members of Mubarak's regime. He was in charge when protesters were being attacked and killed in Tahrir square, and also when the country's money was being smuggled out of it. Protesters hold him responsible for the Camel battle. 35 corruption cases were filed against him, but no investigation took place. He is known for his anti-revolution statements, and for strongly supporting Mubarak and his policies. He has a military background and was a member of the dissolved national democratic party. Shafik’s winning is viewed as a reproduction of Mubarak’s regime
