Vesak Day in Mongolia
- Jareen, CNN iReport producer
For Mongolia, we are proud to present the impressive activities that I can’t stop to tell you. It is the Vesak Day Activities which we have arranged it for 5 years. In this year, I and my friends from many universities, over 1,000 total people, have volunteered to arrange these activities for over 1 month and participate in these Buddhist activities as well.
We have waited for this event for year. During that time, my friends and I gathered to do both Buddhist activities and public benefits. For Buddhist activities, we have chanted, listened to Dhamma, and meditated together. We gather to arrange the Vesak Day activity only once a year.
For the event in this year, Peaceful Mind Foundation of Mongolia invited monks from Theravada Sect from Wat Phra Dhammakaya in Thailand, Lama in Vacharayana Sect from Dizolin Temple in Mongolia, monks from Mahayana Sect from South Korea, over 100 total monks from many countries and over 10,000 Mongolian participate in this event. So, the National Stadium of Mongolia looks too small for us.
The activities were sacred and I participated in the following activities which were chanting to worship the Lord Buddha, listening to Dhamma on the topic of “The good Buddhists’ properties”, chanting in the Vacharayana Sect style in Mongolian, meditating by Dhammakaya Vijja. The monks from Wat Phra Dhammakaya led how to meditate in Thai and then translated into Mongolian. After that, we were excited with the ceremonies of lighting ground lanterns and floating lanterns, over 10,000 total lanterns, and lighting fireworks to worship the Lord Buddha. Finally, we made a wish together for human beings and the world societies to meet the real peace and happiness.
My friends and I are very happy and proud in this event. We would like to tell the world that even though Mongolia is the land surrounding with valleys and deserts, far away and over 1,000 feet higher than the sea level, we are nice and kind, we love peace and happiness and we would like everyone to be happy with us. So, on the Vesak Day in this year, we would like to invite all of you to experience the amazing peace in Mongolia as well.
