Hunts Point Fish Parade & Festival
The 9th annual Hunts Point Fish Parade took place on Saturday June 16th to mark the beginning of summer.
The first parade was held in 2003 to raise public awareness to the community that was to become home to the Fulton Street Fish Market, following in the trail of wholesale meat and fruit vendors.
The Point Community Development Corporation is dedicated to youth development and cultural and economic revitalization of the Hunts Point section of the South Bronx.
This year's Fish Parade theme is "Bugs, Fish and Flowers". This was as day of celebrating Bronx waterfront heritage. The famous graffiti-street art artists Tats-Cru-"The Mural Kings" were on hand to start the festival as Kings of the Parade. Talent show, basketball tournament, prizes, arts and crafts, food and games for all to enjoy. Fun for all ages.
The parade now marches from one park to the other, and the festival takes place inside of Barretto Point Park.
