Rodney King, A Lesson Taught - May he rest in peace

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     EWillies1961 says he was in his early 30s when the Rodney King beating happened. 'We always knew the Los Angeles police department was known to be a racist department, but in the video we actually saw that racism,' he says. He says what happened to King transformed into a symbol of ongoing racism in not only Los Angeles, but in America. 'The world was able to see that video in vivid color and they were able to see that in America African American men were being beaten,' he says. Rodney's altercation with the police represents that continued problem black men still have with police in America, according to EWillies1961. 'I remember seeing that video and seeing that he didn't do anything wrong, it was like putting salt on the wounds... you don't treat another human being like that,' he says.
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

May Rodmey King rest in peace. I send my sincere condolences to his family.

I did learn something from the incident. Always understand that as a black man the police generally gives less value to your life or rights. This was learned in a display for all to see.
