    Review of Disney's Cars Land

Disney’s California Adventure had its re-grand opening this past weekend. My family celebrated Father’s Day all day Sunday in Cars Land. This new section of the park was right out of the movie Cars starring Lightning McQueen and Tow Mator. The new land has spectacular architecture and very authentic to the details of the movie.

Of course there are always problems with any grand opening of all types of businesses and Disney was not without them. The parking was awful. The lines were terrible long. Merchandise ran short. Alarms and sensors caused plenty of momentary closures. The staff was a bit untrained. People were cutting lines and the heat caused for short tempers among the guests. I could spit out all the details, but it’s the same old stories.

I guess you have to take the good with the bad. I could see plenty of upper management combing through the area to take care of problems as they took place. The employees smiled, apologized, and gave out buttons to ease the tensions.

Cars Land offers three new rides, a restaurant, and plenty of shopping and snack stands. The gem of the area was Radiator Springs Racers. This four and half minute ride gives a beautiful interaction with the cast of Cars before a roller coaster of a race between two cars. The lines of course were the longest any one could ever imagine. The popular Fast Pass where you get a ticket with a time to return to a special line were all given out for the day and still had a wait time of up to 30 minutes to two hours. The stand by line was from two and half to four hours. I read on a blog that someone actually waited five hours in line on Friday, the actual opening day. I spoke to one employee who said that the ride has stopped about 20 times due to any little sensor going off on the ride.

So, a few things you should know before you visit. Get your Fast Pass to the Radiator Springs Racers. The ride also has a single rider line. The wait was about 45 minutes. You have to get an ice cream cone from the snack stand at Cozy Cone Motel. It was the best I have ever had. If the lines are too long at Luigi’s Casa de Tires, skip it. The hover tires are slow and hard to handle, so not worth the wait. Eat at Flo’s Café. The food is healthy and the rotisserie is out of this world. Mator’s Junkyard ride is cute and lots of fun for the family. One last thing you should know. You have to see the area lit up at night. Talk about amazing!

I am confident that within a short time that Disney will fix all the bugs that plagued the grand opening of Cars Land. Overall the experience was a HIT.
