Plumes of Smoke Set Fear into Residents & Travelers Alike
In the afternoon of June 10th I left Alliance, NE to travel to my home in Santa Fe, NM. I had watched the news the night before, so I anticipated seeing some smoke. That anticipation was nothing compared to what I witnessed. I caught first glimpse only a half hour south of Alliance & by the time I drove onto I80, by Kimball, NE a thick gray cloud of smoke hovered above me. Driving into Fort Collins felt like being in a chimney. As a passionate photographer, I felt urged to capture what was in front of me. Unfortunately all the batteries for my digital single lens reflex camera had drained. Using what I had at my disposal, these are photos I shot, with my Droid Thunderbolt smart phone,
