Church, Community, High Park Fire, Bellvue, CO Larimer County, Colorado
- Anika3, CNN iReport producer
As fire continues to rage, volunteers rise up and community spirit shines.
These photos depict todays scene in Bellvue, CO.
While most people celebrate and honor Father's Day parishioners from the Church of Christ along with 2 other community churches are set up to help not only victims/families affected by the High Park fires but also responders as well.
Volunteers sat near the roadside, waiting for neighbors who might need some assistance despite 98 degree temperatures, heavy, smoke filled air, and 30 - 50+ mph winds.
Some of the donations have come from a group in Tennessee. The church has clean-up kits, personal hygiene supplies, food, bedding, toys and supplies for children/infants and more.
While there, a woman who had lost her home in the fire was able to find friendly faces and much needed supplies. Church volunteers stepped up and loaded the woman's car with supplies within minutes.
Coming across this energetic, friendly, group was such a pleasant surprise after eight days of devastating fire in Northern Colorado.
Many businesses and groups in the community have been working hard to support the responders and community as well.
Community Spirit and Kindness are strong here!
THANK YOU ALL
