Election 2012: Your stories |
What Issue Will Buy Your Vote
I hope that we are not single issue Americans whose vote is so easily bought with a promise or a perk that helps our individual situation, but I am kind of afraid that we are.
I know one person that is willing to give her vote to get a potential break on her student loans. The rest of the platform does not coincide with her beliefs, but if only she could get that break.
I wonder if President Obama's declaration about not deporting illegal immigrants for a time will be enough to sway the hispanic vote? Will that one act be worth a vote?
Was president Obama's statement about gay marriage enough to ensure the gay vote, were they already planning to vote that way?
Will Romney's choice in VP be the deciding factor for some? Will his choice target a part of the population he is trying to get to vote for him?
Will free birth control for all women be the deciding factor?
Unlike many people in this economy, I am not struggling, not really getting ahead but not struggling. Without desperation about any one single issue, my vote will be based on what I feel would be best for this nation. Can you say the same, or is there an issue for you that is make or break?
What do you think of this story?
