There are a several things I did last week which were not on the agenda when it started.

Wakeboarding, while surrounded by massive plumes of wildfire smoke was one of them.

With most of our friends out celebrating Father's Day, my friend asked me if I wanted to head up to Fort Collins to check in on his boat. The marina at which it was parked had been shut down for the past two weeks, while the Sheriff's department took over the roads and expedited aid to the local community.

Expecting to come across a smothered area, the south end of the lake wasn't in bad shape. In fact, it seemed to be business as usual as people hopped into their small boats and cruised the 6 mile reservoir.

The north end of the lake, however, was covered in a blanket of smoke. The plume seen in the rear didn't even exist earlier in the day. The hill sprouted into a smoldering fire around midday right behind the Horsetooth Reservoir, on the perimeter of Fort Collins.

As we sat in the boat surrounded by the haze of the smoke, it was decided to keep the day moving and hop on the wakeboard. The pictures we grabbed were unique, to say the least. Massive plumes shot into the atmosphere in the background, as we were dragged by the boat and did our best to enjoy what sun we had when it wasn't covered by a thick wall of smoke.
