Celebrity Rich OK - Business Rich Not OK

I have noticed in recent years with movements such as the occupy Wall Street movement that only certain rich people are demonized while certain rich people are not. Certain celebrity rich people actually come out and condemn other rich people, but what gives them the right to do that? While I go to movies and watch TV along with the rest of America, is it fair that they earn millions while the camera man or sound engineer earns significantly less? Just wondering?

Let’s look at some top celebrity earners according to Forbes:
    :
    Oprah – 165 million
    Steven Spielberg – 130 million
    Tom Cruise – 75 million

Now let’s look at some business people and see where they rank in earnings according to Forbes:
    :
    Mitt Romney – 42 million
Steven J Hemsely (United Health Group) 101 million
Edward A Meuller (Qwest Communications) 65.8 million
Robert A Iger (Walt Disney) 53.3 million

So, why don’t we hate Oprah for being so rich and earning so much? She out earns the top CEOs and yet, she is a beloved figure in our society.

I hear a lot of folks on this site demonize people that have more than they have themselves, as long as those are faceless people in business suits working in the high rises around this nation or a political candidate. What I do not hear is darn, Tom Cruise earns that big bucks and all he does is entertain us.

While many celebrities are generous to many causes, I did find it interesting that the celebrities listed above were not the top charitable givers last year according to Forbes. Jamie Gertz was on top…who knew?

If fairness for the 1% is really what we want, why do we give celebrities a pass?
