More Duluth flash flood
- hhanks, CNN iReport producer
These photos were taken on the lower east hillside of Duluth on the afternoon following a night and morning of heavy rain.
Broken steam pipes brought a release into the street at E. 8th Ave. near Superior St., along with attention from city workers.
The man on the roof of his car is Ian Koivisto. He drove his car into this flooded area at 1 a.m. this morning and had to swim to safety. Here he recovers his belongings, using the chair to stand above the water while he accesses the trunk.
The apartment building with the uprooted sidewalk, is at E. 2nd St. and 8th Ave.
The storm sewer emptying into Lake Superior is at the base of the hill from where the car fell into the sinkhole on Skyline Parkway.
