Spencer Clark - Why I Marched in DC Pride Parade

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     swclark and his family marched in the Washington D.C. pride parade on June 9. At some points in the parade, they heard people on the sidelines saying they too were Mormon. 'We had a guy break through the crowd and hug everyone. It was a really sweet moment. He said, ‘I’m Mormon. I can’t believe you're here.''

swclark is fighting for the same-sex marriage referendum this year in his home state of Maryland. 'I felt it really important that we stand up and break the stereotypes that Mormons are opposed to gay marriage. … I won’t be silently complicit in the denial of those rights to others,' he said.
