Breaking and Entering Results in KItten Torture and Death

Approximately 2 months ago a woman in Oldham County, KY found a mother cat and her kittens living in her barn. Her neighbor took in the kittens, got them medical care and tried to find homes for them. A 16 year old girl from down the street adopted one of the kittens who was missing an eye. A week later, she and her friends got drunk and broke into the barn where the kittens were staying. They stole four kittens, took them back to the teens house, beat the kittens, blew smoke in their faces, threw them in the pool and then beat one to death with a garden tool. A friend of the teens involved contacted the police and the four stolen kittens (including the dead one) were returned. Later the parent's of the 16 year old made her return the special needs kitten. Police indicated to the kitten's owner that the teens would be charged with breaking and entering, but not animal abuse. Since then additional charges have been filed, including a rape charge against an 18 year old at the party and the 16 year old's parents have filed trespassing charges against the people at the party. In addition it has come to light that the mother of one of the teens involved is a Humane Society employee. These teens need to be charged to the full extent of the law and need treatment to ensure these crimes do not escalate in the future.
