Food Stamps Cut? "Please Don't Feed the Animals", Says Congress

The U.S. Senate has voted to cut the food stamp program (S.N.A.P.)by billions of dollars over the next ten years. Some Democrats joined Republicans in deciding to "not feed the animals".

How conservatives reach these conclusions, is beyond me. Where are the jobs and recovery? The GOP has stalled the economy to get Romney elected. Now, they cut food stamps. Can people find a job that doesn't exist?

DC needs to get out of the Beltway more often. It's different out here away from your $1000 a plate fund raiser lifestyles.

Apparently, Republicans believe that if you feed people with food stamps, they will become dependent and look for handouts rather than look for food on their own.

It's a rather linear position to take, but when you look at the logic of the entire Republican Party and their supporters, this doesn't come as a surprise that they would draw this comparison.
The following was sent to me by a Conservative friend here on IReport. Read it carefully and see if you agree.

"The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is proud to be distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever.

Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S. Department of the Interior, asks us to "Please Do Not Feed the Animals."

Their stated reason for the policy is because the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves."

Obviously, there's a difference between feeding people and feeding animals. We don't feed Alligators and bears because we don't want them to approach people looking for food.

Often, "feeding animals" makes animals think of humans as food. This distinction is lost on conservatives who only see our World in black and white, red and blue and haves and have nots.

Republicans also believe there is no difference between wages of men and women. They site the number of hours women work as being the reason for the discrepancy and disparity between men and women.

Is it any wonder, why they legislate and believe the way they do when these types of fallacies are at the heart of their understanding of our human existence?
A list of a few of the GOP's fallacies:

Appeal to probability – assumes that because something is likely to happen, it is inevitable that it will happen.

Argument from fallacy – assumes that if an argument for some conclusion is fallacious, then the conclusion itself is false.

Base rate fallacy – making a probability judgement based on conditional probabilities, without taking into account the effect of prior probabilities.

Conjunction fallacy – assumption that an outcome simultaneously satisfying multiple conditions is more probable than an outcome satisfying a single one of them.

Masked man fallacy (illicit substitution of identical's) – the substitution of identical designators in a true statement can lead to a false one.
