This iReport is part of an assignment:
From garden to table |
From Seeds to Food in My Pantry
After a long hiatus from gardening, I began again when I moved to Little Rock 6 years ago. Apparently growing things here is more challenging than growing things back in my home state of Ohio. Each year has taught me new things about soil, drought, bugs, bugs and more bugs. Anyway....
The past 4 years I have started most of my plants from seed and nursed them along until they were big enough to transplant in my garden. From there I watched them grow, some plants produced beyond expectation while other didn't fair as well...usually it was the plants that I wanted to produce that didn't and the ones like my egg plant that produced an over abundance. Just so you know, my neighbors are not as excited to get an egg plant as they are a home grown tomato.
This year has been my best year so far...and here is my proof...canned tomatoes and bread and butter pickles from my garden.
