    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     arasquare documents a celebration at Cairo's Tahrir Square after Mohamed Morsi declared victory as Egypt's first democratically elected president. "This was a significant moment because it's the first time we as Egyptians were allowed to choose our president in free elections," he says. "I was celebrating Shafik's loss more than anything else, it was a step toward ending the 60-year-old military rule in Egypt." The videos and photos were captured on June 24.

    Fireworks all over Egypt's Tahrir square as celebration and protests continue in Egypt. Hundreds of thousands gathered in Egypt's Tahrir square on Sunday, June 24, to continue protest against military rule and to hear the announcement of the presidential elections results. Protesters stood in the square under burning sun to hear the results. The speech made by the head of the Presidential Electoral Committee was long and people were bored. The moment Mursi was named Egypt's new president, the whole square exploded with joy. Some people cried, others prayed and thanked God. Many chanted for Mursi and against military rule. The numbers increased in the square after the announcement. People are still there in the square waving Egyptian flags and singing. People will stay in the square until they achieve their demands. People of all genders, ages, and economic and political backgrounds are celebrating in the square.
