    It's Raining Emraan!

Emraan Hashmi’s on a roll and the actor’s now in the race to beat the top 2 actors that were introduced on screen less than 5 years ago.

Reliable sources inform that Emraan has officially bagged the Balaji-Dharma production’s collaborative project, while the losers in the race were Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan. The unconventional option, who debuted in 2004’s steamy ‘Murder’, has come a long way indeed.

Informs the source, “The merger of Karan’s Dharma and Ekta’s Balajee is monumental and the cast has to reflect the importance of the union.” Seemingly, Emraan’s reputation of being a serial kisser is taking a backseat post roles like the Abraham in The Dirty Picture and Jogi in Shanghai. So what does this role expect of him?

The source reveals, “The film to be directed by newbie Akhshoy Roy is an edgy love story. An unconventional devil-may-care 27-28 year-old hero was needed. Ranbir Kapoor and Imran Khan were the immediate choices. But then Emraan who is currently Balaji’s blue-eyed boy seemed the best bet.”

The leading lady is still under dispute, as rumours of Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor and Katrina Kaif competing for the role were doing the rounds. However, like we reported previously, Kareena has opted out of the selection, and now we have news that Katrina may not have the dates for this schedule.

“Both Karan Johar and Ekta Kapoor feel the Emraan-Katrina pair would be magic, ” informs the source.

Katrina also, it has been heard, loved the script when she heard it. “But she wouldn’t be able to find a window in her schedule for the film, ” says a source close to Katrina.

Here’s to collaboration of the two K-factor production houses- we can’t help but wait for a fascinating project!
