It's not your dad's Spiderman and I LOVE it!
I went in with the mind to not compare it to my beloved Tobey/Ramey collab and instead was going to judge it on it's own story. Well the movie unfolded to me as Peter in a new alternative universe. Mr. Webb has taken the story in a new direction but still keeping the basic of Peter being an orphan, Oscorp, the spider bite and discovering his purpose but with a modern twist that made it a enriching story. What I also loved about the film was that he made sure that the 3D didn't overshadow the story but instead enhanced it! So many films seem to think .. I've run out of ideas so I'll add a 3D component or gunfire and nobody will notice that the story isn't fleshed out but he instead made sure we got to know each of the characters enough to understand them and FEEL for them. Everyone knows the uncle's death but I still got teary when Uncle Ben died. Now that's a movie with an emotional core that combines the best of a beloved franchise, comic book I grew up reading, movies/tv shows I've adored and made it fresh so I strongly recommend you see Spiderman. But don't forget to bring your tissues!
