    Remembering Andy Griffith

    More from geniusravin

    Mt. Airy, NC

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     geniusravin says he grew up watching 'The Andy Griffith Show' and always loved it, especially since he and Griffith were both North Carolinians: 'It's a combination of knowing that it is North Carolina and those were North Carolina towns.' He started watching at age 6, and started to realize the North Carolina connection as he got older and was exposed to more of Griffith's work. In October 2011, geniusravin fulfilled a lifelong aspiration when he took his mother to the Andy Griffith house in Mt. Airy, North Carolina. The town is the inspiration for the iconic, idyllic, fictional town of Mayberry. They also visited a nearby museum dedicated to the show. 'With the loss of Andy Griffith, it's a great loss for us (North Carolina) and I'm sure for the rest of the country as well,' geniusravin said.
