Remembering Andy Griffith
Andy,Gomer, and Barney
I remember these guys...When I was growing up in Goldsboro, NC, I remember my father talking about the time Andy Griffith came to Goldsboro to be part a play in town. My dad said Andy was on his way to Manteo to star in the Lost Colony for the summer.
My father bought Andy's 45 rpm recording of his " What was it?..Football" and played it many times. He even bought another copy after our house was destroyed by Hurricane Hazel in 1954.
We got our first TV in 1955, (Black and White) of course and my children watched the re-runs of Mayberry growing up. I was living in Wilmington NC when Andy starred in Matlock. I saw him several times while he was filming this show. He had told the Matlock producers that he would do the series if he could do iti NC..so they accommodated his wishes.
These are great memories, I wish Andy's family, friends, and fans the best of these memories from this really great North Carolina native. RIP Andy....Every time I think of Andy, Barney, and Gomer,..I can't help but remember how much we all laughed together watching this group, including Miss Bea...RIP Andy...Sam Carr
