    No Fireworks. Good Idea!

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     tomkellyfoto of Park City, Utah, says although he lives 20 miles away from the nearest wildfire, officials have banned all firework displays for Independence Day. "A huge cloud is building and there's ash falling all over the place," he says. "It was really a good decision. This just isn't an appropriate time." He took this photo from the intersection of Utah State Route 248 and U.S. Route 40 on the afternoon of July 3.

    July Fourth activities across the west are taking on a different tone with bone dry wildlands and fire danger at an all time high. The popular resort community of Park City, Utah had plenty of celebration, but said no to fireworks - both private and commercial displays.

    This signboard coming into Park City broadcast the No Fireworks ban while smoke from the raging Quail Fire across the mountain in Alpine, Utah, 20 miles away, billowed into the sky.
