The Cornfield OOPs! File - 4th of July Edition
Sometimes we all say or do things we wish we could take back or do over. But life, especially in these days of Twitter, smartphones, 24-hour news, the blog-o-sphere and social media, captures almost any and all flubs, slips of the tongue, mis-steps, hijinks and bad behavior. That is why I have instituted the The Cornfield OOPs! File.
The inaugural run was in around 3 in the morning today. That 1st file can be read here:
The Cornfield OOPs! File - July 4th
Today we have 2 more to add to the file: 1 from controversial Tea Party favorite Illinois Congressman Joe Walsh and 1 from New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg.
Oh No You Didn't!: If you didn't catch it replaying on your favorite news channel, Bloomberg was making some remarks just before the famous Nathan's Hot Dogs eating contest at Coney Island, a 4th of July tradition. As the Mayor ran through the script using pun after pun, the Mayor turned and quipped, "Who wrote this sh*t?"
It was priceless. Honest and funny all at the same time...and a real OOPs! moment, but I am sure we will all let this 1 pass and enjoy a good laugh.

Diarrhea of the Mouth: Congressman Joe Walsh is in a tight fight for re-election against Iraqi war veteran Tammy Duckworth, who is proud of her time and service. Walsh seems to have issue with Duckworth talking about her military career. Duckworth was left a double-amputee following her tour of duty in Iraq.
However, when confronted by Wolf Blitzer today on The Situation Room, Walsh backed down a bit and said that he does believe and appreciate that Duckworth is a hero and her military service commendable. But that was after he had this to say:
"Now I'm running against a woman who, my God, that's all she talks about. Our true heroes, it's the last thing in the world they talk about."
-- Rep. Joe Walsh (R-IL), speaking at a town hall meeting, criticizing opponent Tammy Duckworth (D) for talking about the military service that left her a double-amputee.

Walsh is known for speaking when he should just shut-up.
This is one of those times.
From the Cornfield, may the gaffes, the flubs, the misspeak and stupid actions roll on...otherwise I will have nothing to write about.
