Rare Behind the Scenes of Obama Phone Bank

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     MelissaF iReporter MelissaF spent last Sunday with a re-elect Barack Obama phone bank in Yorba Linda, California, reaching out to volunteers following the landmark health care decision by the Supreme Court last week. "It amazes me that millions are donated and spent on a presidential election, but it’s really the numerous volunteers that really make the difference," she said.

This past Sunday I observed and got to film a rare behind the scenes Re-Elect Barack Obama Phone Bank in Yorba Linda, California. The Phone Bank took place at Neighborhood Leader of Organizing America Northeast Orange County and volunteer Anita Miller-Mulhall’s home.

The mood was festive due to the recent Supreme Court ruling to uphold the health care reform laws so fondly known as Obamacare. Volunteers gathered to call upon others to also volunteer for the camaign. The response on the other line was mostly positive.

Anita Miller-Mulhall said “I have made thousands of calls for health care and run many phone banks in my life and this short video captured the essence of years of work in minutes. "

It amazes me that millions are donated and spent on a Presidential election, but it’s really the numerous volunteers that really make the difference.
