    National ID ?

    Is it time for a national ID card? The US State Department issues a US Passport Control Card which is good for use at seaports and landports but not airports. At $55 for a card good for ten years its a tad pricey. ($30 for folks with a previous  passport)  But Congress can reduce that. If the National ID Card was linked to each state driver's license database we could get rid of DL's. Advocates for a national ID range from the far left (Senator Chuck Schumer D-NY) to right far (Senator LIndsey Graham R-SC)
