Avon Park Police Department 10-4 Down and Out
The Avon Park Police Department has no Chief of Police, and is being headed by the Sheriff Department and the Sheriff is Susan Benton. This was supposed to be temporary, but now the Sheriff Department will probably permanently control the City of Avon Park, FL. As the Avon Park Police Department is being closed down by default, what will be the transition of power?
There is speculation and information from a confirmed source, that the Avon Park Police Department will become a substation for the Sheriff Department. And some of the officers will have the opportunity to move up to county. So what does this mean to the Southside Redevelopment Area of Avon Park?
The Southside Redevelopment Area of Avon Park Business Sector of the Delaney Avenue Stripe is in trouble. Avon Park is a rural area on the turning point of becoming a true small city. The business stripe is outdated by design as the business types need to be diversified. As things stand now all the businesses are targeted to the same audience or consumer types which are drug addicts and alcoholics.
As of now there is said to be a drought on crack cocaine in highlands county, but there is plenty of marijuana; business is slower on Delaney Avenue. This is no fault of the APPD, it is all election year politics.
However all is not monopolistic, as a group of distinguished men and women are about to create an oversight committee for the Sheriff Department. What this means is that as the APPD shuts down and as we know the Avon Park City Council is ethically questionable; they lose there dogs that were used to harass innocent people as myself, for bumping heads with one of there Member who is corrupt. Now there will be oversight at county level and the city is out of the law enforcement loop. They were corrupt and the people who they worked for is corrupt and perhaps oversight is needed at county level to insure that the next Sheriff does not be corrupt.
It is a mess here in Avon Park!
