Lennox: Death or the USA?
Supporters around the world are rallying in a last ditch attempt to save Lennox, the 6 year old companion dog of mixed breed (labrador / American bull) seized by Belfast City Council after being deemed to be 'of type' over 2 years ago, and who is scheduled to be put to sleep on the jugdges' orders. The Lennox case was flawed from the onset with witnesses for BCC lying on the stand, and international dog behaviourists deeming the dog to be not lethally dangerous despite Belfast City Council dog handler Peter Tallack upholding his claim that the dog was dangerous, despite leaked video footage showing Lennox licking and playing with the same dog warden who said she was mortally afraid of this dog. Now BCC are asked urgently to consider the offer made by Victoria Stilwell, who has personally appealed to the court and BCC to take Lennox to the USA. Dog lovers and opponents of Breed Specific Legislation and the Dangerous Dog Act from all over the world are outraged at the way the case has been handled by Belfast City Council so far.
It is feared the outrage will reach a new high when Belfast City Council keeps ignoring the pleas for Lennox' release to the USA. Interestingly, another case about a dog named Buster, a pure bred red nose pit, 100% banned breed seized by BCC 2 Months after Lennox, hidden away from family for 22 months, who was used for breeding and was excerpted and returned to his owner in November 2011, not even type but 100% illegal, adds more furor to the debate....many think Lennox may be considered a victim of politics.
Supporters have gathered followers on social media like facebook and twitter, and several petitions have been launched through change.org and the petition site.
