    Evening, Interrupted

Most likely a night's sleep breached by the shrieks of 'coons, and the loud crackles of who-knows-what seemingly at every outside corner of the cabin at once - led then to very wide open eyes decidedly watching a cold and humid night in a wooded California rise turn into a burst of very early sun rays - much earlier here than those sleeping peacefully in their dark homes below. The cold humidity had so dampened the trees, and just about everything around them, that it created a steamy and eerie fog that swirled upward when the rays cut through the dark bone-chill to warm-wake nature for a new day.

This is my beautiful evening. If we were not so leery (well actually, just me - the dogs and hubby were sleeping soundly) of the erratic and unfamiliar sounds of nature at night, and wonder at what level or what color would the eyes be when you opened the door to sneak a peek or break the morning seal, we would have never seen this symphonic splendor defined by both the late evening and the wee morning.

Mountain Region, Northern California, about 4:30-45am, give or take...

Up there, nature makes you laugh at clocks - that is until you run out of beer and the lone local store 8 miles away closes in 20 minutes.
