This iReport is part of an assignment:
Eye on Ukraine |
Sevastopol / Bakhchisaray area of the Crimea, Ukraine
Sevastopol is a unique city in the Crimea. It remains home to the Russian Black Sea Fleet and has much Naval history. Khersones area of the city has ruins of an ancient Greek city founded in 422 B.C. on the grounds of the Vladimirsky Cathedral with good views of the Black Sea.
An hour bus ride from Sevastopol, is a small but famous village of Bakhchysaray. I must say this is one of the most intriguing small villages I have ever seen. Expect to spend a full day in this small village. Tourist sites include Khan's Palace, a cave city, and monastery built in the cave. The small village is a good escape from the busy city life but still has the attractions to enjoy.
