    Lawn Chair Balloon Flight 2012

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     veverka says as an air, space and science enthusiast, he could not pass up the chance to see pilot Kent Couch and Iraqi pilot Fareed Lafta attempt their two man balloon flight from Bend, Oregon. The two pilots sat in lawn chairs on a platform that was strapped with 350 helium-filled balloons. When the platform lifted off, he says it was a surreal experience, although Kent Couch has gone on solo balloon flights before. This was, however, the first two person balloon flight. But the weather caught up with the balloonists, and they had to land sooner than they anticipated, he explained. He also adds that the stunt was to bring awareness to the public about the plight of Iraqi orphans.

I went over to watch another lawn chair balloon flight by local pilot Kent Couch. He is flying with Iraqi pilot Captain Fareed Abdul-Zahra al Saadi to raise awareness of the plight of Iraqi orphans and try to break some cluster balloon flight records along the way.
