    The Alternative Universe of the Comic Con

    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     ChalkGuy says this marks the ninth year coming to Comic-Con. He says he has been attending Comic-Con since the 90s, and describes himself as an observer. 'I'm a fan of fans,' he says. 'I am inspired to chronicle the Con because of all the astonishing efforts on behalf of the fans to reinvent themselves as their favorite superheroes.'

    A photoessay of costume and atmosphere of the San Diego Comic Con 2012. I come to the Con to see old buddies, make new friends and witness the inspiration in the rise of the Popular Arts. A collage of universes collide, as people come to collect art from their favorite stories, play the roles of their heroes, villains, gods and monsters and hear the update and lowdown about their favorite program, film or game. The stars come out; and for a few days it appears that all things, including time travel teleportation and extreme metamorphosis here, are possible.
