    Our Amish Neighbors

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     Ryn traveled to Charlotte Hall, Maryland, to visit the Amish Farmer's Market. She says a highlight of going to the Amish Farmer's Market is meeting the people and trying their fresh produce and homemade baked and canned goods. 'It's a quiet step back in time,' she says. 'We could learn a lot from them.'
    - Jareen, CNN iReport producer

If you are ever in the metropolitan Washington DC area and would enjoy a break from the museums and monuments I have to suggest going south to Charlotte Hall, Maryland and a little further south to Amish country. Starting about May there is an Amish Farmer's Market in Charlotte Hall that can not be beat. Fresh produce, flowers and plants, homemade baked goods, jams, jellies, honey, free range eggs, butter, homemade soaps, crafts, aprons, adorable clothes pin bags, pot holders, oven mitts, bag holders and amazing wood crafts.
We love the Shoo Fly Pie, the Whoopie Pies and the homemade breads
A flea market is open on Wednesdays and Saturdays that has an array of much needed items from many vendors and the Amish are there as well. Besides all of the above they have livestock for sale, chickens goats, sheep, horses, dogs, rabbits and ducks.
Everyone is so friendly and helpful from the young ones to senior citizens. It is a wonderful way to spend the afternoon and a step back in time.
