Members of the Egyptian Social Democratic Party organized a silent stand in front of the presidential palace on Sunday, July16, against military trials for civilians and against the arrest of 3 of the party members after taking part in a peaceful protest. The three activist were kidnapped on their way home by security forces and then taken to military prosecution. Many political activists and supporters joined the stand to call on the new president to free all political activists and to put an end to the military trials for civilians. To date, at least 12,000 civilians have been tried before military courts - a large part of them revolutionaries arrested at demonstrations and sit-ins. This number also includes university students, school students, and children. Minors have been sent to adult prisons.
