This iReport is part of an assignment:
Travel snapshots: The best beaches |
Lava Beach
Dangerous place to take photos as the giant surf is boiling hot from hitting a quarter mile wide swath of hot lava 20 feet high. To be hit by the waves here is to die being scalded to death, and no one wil lfind you.
There are no cops, no help, no servants, no ropes, no boats or helicopters to lift you out of trouble.
If you are big boys and girls you can get yourself in and out of here with little trouble.
However, one can never predict freak wave events or last minute large lava flows that will wipe out your path in and out of the flow area in minutes and you are trapped on the beach: alone with night coming on and no escape route. Yes, it happened.
