Solid Goes To Techweek
- stein0726, CNN iReport producer
Tech Week, a showcase of the leading Chicago-based technology companies, ran from Friday June 22nd to Monday June 25th in Chicago's own Merchandise Mart. Proudly sponsored by Solid, this conference and expo brought together some of the brightest innovators in the industry to share new tips and tricks, discuss challenges in the tech community, and get a glimpse of Chicago’s role as a technology hub. This year TechWeek had over 10,000 attendees, including 400 new start-ups and 800 established companies, tripling last year’s attendance.
Solid spent the week discovering new ways to maximize the organization by attending seminars, meeting experts in emerging fields, and networking with some of the most prestigious and thought-inspiring tech leaders and entrepreneurs, including Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel; Gary Shapiro, head of the Consumer Electronics Association; and Barney Harford, the CEO of Orbitz. These innovators had exciting things to say about the changing nature of the industry, especially the growing number of Chicago-based start-ups.
Out of the numerous tech companies in attendance, a few really stood out to the team:
Gigity - http://gigity.tv/ - Watch local artists from anywhere in the world both live and on-demand the next day
Uber - https://www.uber.com/ - Your on-demand private driver.
ITA - http://www.illinoistech.org/ - Driving the success of growth-stage technology companies through programs in development, talent and visibility.
In addition to networking with other Chicago technology leaders, the Solid team was able to share some thoughts on what they have been up to. Solid develops leading-edge, custom software solutions for many organizations, including start-ups, small businesses, and Fortune 100 corporations. Solid is becoming one of the most prominent Chicago-based tech companies, showcasing novel approaches to delivering successful projects, stable software, innovative products, and superior customer service. .
Solid will be attending the Open Source Conference (OSCon) in Portland this week. Visit Solid at thinksolid.com.
