Maryland DREAMers to March in Baltimore

Tomorrow, on July 19th 2012, hundreds of 'DREAMers' will be marching in front of the ICE Building in Baltimore, Maryland to declare that they are "Undocumented, Unafraid, and Unapologetic!"

This march comes on the the 30 day mark since President Obama announced the Deferred Action memo, which will allow DREAM-eligible kids the ability to secure a work permit and a drivers' licence. The march also comes a day after the launch of the Educating Maryland Kids Coalition at the University of Maryland Baltimore County, which featured Dr. Freeman Hrabowski, who declared his support for the law.

The act, now headed to referendum on November 6, will allow all students who have graduated from Maryland High Schools and whose parents pay taxes to attend college at an in-state rate, regardless of immigration status. Passage of this bill would be seen as a step forward for the National DREAM Act and Comprehensive Immigration Reform.

With regard to the march, hundreds of students and various immigrant rights groups, such as CASA de Maryland and Educating Maryland Kids, will be on hand to support the students coming out.
