Human Wall to block WBC protest at Aurora, CO Memorial tonight

Debra Quintana, a 29 yr old woman from Pueblo, CO caught wind of the Westboro Baptist Church planning on protesting at the memorial service for the victims of the Aurora, CO slayings. She proceeded to create an event on FaceBook for her couple hundred friends to have a peaceful human wall to block the WBC and protect the mourning families of the fallen. Within less than 24 hours the event went viral with 25,000 shared invites going out and over 1,800 people planning on attending! The Human Peace Wall will link arms while remaining silent with their backs to the WBC forming a circle of protection around the grieving families. Update from Debra this morning: "*sigh* Well, my loves...it's officially official. WBC has not only been tweeting about picketing in Aurora, but it's now on their website. They plan on picketing from 5:00pm to 7:00 pm. I will be showing up at 4 to scout locations for setup in correlation with the APD as well as some others that have offered their help for our own version on crowd control (with so many people coming, we need it. I hope you understand!). I will be posting updates from my phone once I get on site (I'm coming from Pueblo).

I need you all to remember, this is a SILENT, PEACEFUL WALL blocking WBC doing what they do best - further hurt those that are mourning. Signs are fine as longs they show support for the families - NOT if they're toward WBC. Our backs will be facing them, we will be arm-in-arm and we will be silent. They do not deserve to be acknowledged. However, that being said, signs are not necessary. Our presence, the love that we are showing and our silence will be DEAFENING to them. ;)

I did, in fact make the event page private. I will make it public again after the event for updates, but we needed to curb recruitment since it was getting so large! Myself and the APD agree that if it gets too large, there might be issues with crowd control (high emotions) and that's the last thing we want. We are not going for attention or to distract anybody from the vigil. We are simply there to protect. That being said, if your friends want to come with you, by all means bring them! We just didn't want to keep increasing the invites, since we're well over 25,000 invites in. It wasn't the easiest decision to make it private, but I hope you all understand. It was made purely with the best intentions of our cause in mind.

Location did change, but not by much. The vigil is at the Aurora Municipal Center. Directions on where to park and location are within the description.

PLEASE READ THE EVENT DESCRIPTION. All relevant information is there. Cluttering the wall with questions already addressed makes it difficult for myself or the moderators I appointed to get back to everybody. WE APPRECIATE YOU!!!!

Please remember, you are in charge of yourself! You are responsible for your actions! I trust all of you will keep the peace and not feed into the attention that WBC is looking for. Additionally, remember to bring water, sunscreen, snacks, etc. if you are coming out. With so many people, there's no way I can provide for everyone (Even though I want to hug and smooch every one of you sonnovaguns haha ♥)

Remember our cause, what we're there for, and how we are expected to act! It is going to be difficult. Emotions are going to be high. BUT WE ARE BETTER. WE ARE PROUD. AND MOST OF ALL, WE'RE THE MOST LOVING, RESPECTFUL STATE THERE IS! The response has been amazing! I LOVE EVERY ONE OF YOU GUYS!!!!"
