    CNN PRODUCER NOTE     TimurNYC took sweeping shots of the city of Almaty during a ski holiday at the Shymbulak resort.

    Shymbulak is a popular ski resort near Almaty, the biggest city and the former capital of Kazakhstan. Located in 25 km south of Almaty, the mountainous areas of Shymbulak provide breathtaking views over the city from the elevation of more than 3 km above the sea level. In 2011, Shymbulak was a venue for the Asian Winter Games.
