Olympic Fire Garden Lights Up London’s South Bank

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     TanyaLN22 couldn't resist taking this video of a glorious display of lights commissioned by the National Theatre at the South Bank in London on Wednesday to mark the Olympics. The lights - from gas lights to tea lights - were put together by a pyrotechnic contractor and were enjoyed by hundreds of Londoners who patiently waited in line to walk through the installation. "It was just such a gorgeous and inspiring image to see all these glittering lights and what it represented for the Olympics," she said. "I think everyone was pretty mesmerised, just taking it in and listening to the music that went along with it." The scene had particular resonance for our iReporter as she is a former torchbearer herself. You can see her iReport on the subject here.

Walking along the South Bank of the Thames in central London tonight, we enjoyed the sights, lights, music, crowds, and excitement building around the Olympics that begins on Friday night with the opening ceremony. Over 8,000 Olympic Torchbearers, including Tanya Lubicz-Nawrocka who carried the torch in Cambridge (http://ireport.cnn.com/docs/DOC-813315), brought the Olympic Flame to all corners of the UK during its 70-day journey celebrating the best that the UK has to offer.
