Airplane window photos over the years

I always enjoyed a window view while I could duirng my travel. These are some of the shots I snapped through the airplane window during my solo travels over the years.

    1. I took this photo in September, 2009, on my way from New York back to Chicago. It was quite an emotional flight to me knowing that I would be leaving America soon. At that time, I had been living and working in Chicago for nearly two years. I moved back to my home country Taiwan four days later.

    2. This photo was taken in May, 2007, of Lisbon Airport. I was on my way to Faro, Portugal. My plane took off from Shipol, Amsterdam, made a stop at Lisbon and then headed for Faro. Before this trip, I used to make my once-a-year getaway in July or August. But in 2007, I moved the dates up to May as I was about to be deployed to Chicago later that year to work there for two years.

    3. July, 2006, after about 5 days in Palermo, Sicily, I was headed north for Florence, Italy. The sun was setting while our plane was taking off.

    4. August 3, 2001, after being stranded in Chicago's O'Hare International Airport for several hours due to thunderstorm, we finally boarded. It was then another hour or so of wait on the tarmac. As you can see through the airplane window, there was a long queue before we were allowed to take off. We were lucky though as many flights were cancelled. I was glad I made it to Savannah, Georgia later that day before the dark felt as I wouldn't want to stay one more night at the airport.

    5. On Aug. 26, 1999, I took a short flight from Portland, Oregan to Seattle, Washington. This was the second year since I started to travel solo. We bumped into a scary turbulence. I remember hearing a couple of girls screaming out loud from the back of the plance. I tried to hold on. Thank god we made it through. This was a snapshot during the flight. I couldn't tell if it was Mt. Hood or Mt. Ranier though.
