PHOTOGRAPHS DOCUMENTING OUR DEPENDENCE ON ELECTRICITY:

CNN PRODUCER NOTE     PrinceA says the powerful thunderstorm in Bethesda, Maryland had county residents flocking to Montgomery Mall. "They were at the mall not to shop, but to seek refuge from the extreme heat wave that was sweeping the area. A majority of people were clustered around power outlets charging their cell phones, laptops and etc. Even the restroom power outlets were taken," he says. "Some people were even waiting in line to access the power outlets. I have been going to that mall for the past 25 years I had never seen that many people before or even during Christmas season."
    - Anika3, CNN iReport producer

BETHESDA, MARYLAND. On the night of June 29, 2012, a thunder storm that lasted merely 50 min caused damage beyond comprehension. Large numbers of trees were down, which in turn brought power lines down. This nature-caused catastrophe affected our daily lives for many days. For a week life came to a standstill. No home cooking, no air conditioners, no computers, no laptops, no cell phones, and no I-Pads. The county residents flocked to their local malls not just to cool off but just to do about everything else (See Photographs).
